The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu has admonished Corps members to put patriotism and selfless service to the nation ahead of other considerations.
The Governor made the charge during the closing ceremony of the orientation course held for the over 1700 Corps members reported for service in Ondo state for the 2023 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) service year at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Akeredolu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs Foluke Tunde-Daramola, said that the orientation course is meant to equip the Corps members to have a better understanding of the operations of the Scheme.
According to the Governor, the three-week induction course is to toughen and prepare them physically and mentally to meet the challenges ahead, especially in their newfound culture and environment.
He charged them to contribute to Ondo’s socio-economic and political development and contribute productively in whatever sector of the economy they might be posted.
“Gentlemen Corps members, the three weeks orientation course programme that you actively participated in is designed for all of you to contribute meaningfully to the overall development of this great country as you go to your various places of primary assignment”.

“Your predecessors made a sacrifice that has endeared the Scheme in the hearts of all and sundry. I hope you will not disappoint the citizens and residents of this country who have implicit trust in your capabilities to serve the nation relentlessly”.
He urged them to impact positively on their host communities and transfer the knowledge acquired during the skill acquisition training to better their lots and stem the tide of youth unemployment in Nigeria.

The Governor assured that the Sunshine State will continually prioritise the security and welfare of Corps members deployed to the State.
While urging them to flee from all negative acts that could tarnish the image their predecessors toiled to build over the years, he assured them that his administration would see their excellent hospitality by the government and the good people of Ondo State.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Victoria Nnenna Ani, presented a letter of commendation to the Head of Registration and Documentation on Camp, Mrs. Bosede Daramola and the Camp Commandant, Major BB Mshelia, for distinguishing themselves as Best NYSC and non-NYSC camp officials.
