Efforts of both serving and retired Permanent Secretaries for the development of the state have been commended.

Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave the commendation during the year 2021 end- of -year get together and send -off for retired permanent secretaries in the state public service

The elaborate ceremony organized by the State Forum of Permanent Secretaries was held at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), Akure.

Akeredolu assured his administration’s continuity in placing retired Permanent Secretaries who have served at different capacities in the state at their deserved positions after retirement.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties and former Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Dare Aragbaye, the Governor urged them to live by example and show themselves the way to enhance the development of the state.

While advising members of the forum to work with political heads of  Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and not at  cross purposes, charged them to strive and work as one government for the  vision and mission of his administration to be fully actualized.

“It is not a coincidence that we have Prince Ajose Kudehinbu at the State Civil Service Commission and others to contribute their wealth of experiences to move the state forward. Today at the commission we have what we deserved,” he said

Akeredolu, who appreciated the executives of the forum for the initiative to honour themselves said the event was a call to duty that will spur the serving permanent secretaries to give their best.

Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Mr. Bunmi Alade, appreciated the unprecedented feat of Governor Oluwarotimi in the history of the state public service to have appointed officers as Permanent Secretary and Tutor-General to different occasions without political interference.

Alade also noted the concerted efforts of the governor in bettering the lives of the civil servants and the entire people of the state through the payment of salaries with promise to pay outstanding ones and the payment of retirees’ benefits without discrimination in spite of available meager resources in the state.

While itemizing the achievements of the forum which included result-oriented leadership while holding the affairs of respective MDAs prior to the appointment of new commissioners, Alade said the occasion was to appreciate contributions of the retired permanent secretaries to the system and felicitate with them for the grace to end well, urging serving members to be more dedicated in the discharge of their statutory duties.

He pledged the continued loyalty and support of the forum for the Akeredolu-led administration, requesting the office of the governor to take over the send-off activities of retired permanent secretaries which he said would boost the morale of serving public servants in looking up to the enviable position of permanent secretaries and tutor-generals.

The event featured presentation of awards and gifts to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Union Matters, Mr. Dare Aragbaye; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; former Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Steve Awosika and Mrs.Funmilayo Oni for the recognitions of their contribution to service.
