Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has congratulated Prince Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, on his emergence as the Olowo-elect of Owo Kingdom.
The governor’s message followed reports he received from one of the Senior Omolowos (Kingmakers), Chief Jamiu Ekungba on the outcome of the selection process which, according to him, was peaceful, democratic and procedural in line with the customs and tradition guiding the selection of an Olowo.
A statement released by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo, said the Governor, even as he awaits a formal written communication from the Kingmakers as required by law, “was enamoured by the peaceful conduct that heralded the emergence of the Olowo-elect.”
The statement noted that Akeredolu commended the peaceful manner in which the selection processes went since it began. This according to him, posits an enviable narrative that has doused the needless tension which enveloped the ancient City of Owo since the commencement of the selection process.
While wishing Prince Ogunoye God’s wisdom and grace as he prepared to ascend the throne of his forebearers, Akeredolu in the statement appealed to the Olowo-elect to unite all sons and daughters of Owo Kingdom.
He equally enjoined Prince Ogunoye to extend hands of fellowship to other contenders to the ancient throne before his emergence.
“As Owo Kingdom awaits the traditional rites that will culminate in the final coronation of the Olowo-elect, Governor expressed optimism that OWO indigenes would take maximum advantage of this moment of fresh breath and savour the peaceful ambience that has berthed in the Kingdom,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, a Community Mobilisation and Development Group has rejoiced with the Olowo-Elect, Barrister Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye on his emergence as the new Olowo.
In a congratulatory message by the National Coordinator, Chief Akin Aruwajoye, the Ogbeni Oja of Owo, the group observed that the spontaneous jubilation over his choice testifies to his acceptance by the generality of the people.
Aruwajoye hoped that his inborn royaltym, experienmce, exposure and leadership qualities will help to unite the kingdom and raise the bar of development in the town.
He wished the Oba-elect long life, sound health, divine wisdom and a prosperous reign.
