Akeredolu extols late Ikeazor’s love for indigent clients

The Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has lauded the immense contributions of Late Chief  Chimezie Ikeazor SAN to the establishment and development of the Legal Aid Council in Nigeria.

The Governor (also the special Guest of Honour) was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye ksm at the official unveiling ceremony and renaming of the headquarters building of Legal Aid Council after Late Chief Chimezie Ikeazor SAN.

Governor Akeredolu, a former Chairman of Governing Board of Legal Aid Council noted that Ikeazor SAN ingenuity and compassion for indigent clients birth the idea of Legal Aid Association later transformed to the present Legal Aid Council by the Federal Government.

Ikeazor popular known as “the poor man’s lawyer” in his lifetime sold his personal house in order to defend indigent clients. The Governor felicitates with the family of this legal icon particularly his daughter, Sharon Ikeazor Esq who is the  current Minister of State for Niger Delta on the national recognition bestowed on their Patriarch.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice,  Abubakar Malami, SAN while unveiling the building noted the virtues and selflessness of Chief Ikeazor SAN which led to the establishment of the agency.

The occasion was witnessed by serving Ministers, the leadership of Nigeria Bar Association, senior Lawyers and Government officials, family and associates of late Chief Ikeazor SAN.
