Akeredolu inaugurates Deji Chairman, Council of Obas

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on Tuesday inaugurated the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, as new Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.

Inaugurating the chairman and other 38 members, Governor Akeredolu congratulated the Deji on his appointment to lead the Council for a tenure of two years.

The event which also witnessed interactive session with the monarchs, afforded them the opportunity to express their minds on issues affecting their respective domains and welfare. 

Akeredolu who applauded traditional rulers in the state for joining hands with his government in addressing the ever rising challenges mostly in the area of security and other critical areas of governance, also encouraged them to do more to secure their respective domains against insecurity.

The Governor while saying the State Council of Obas has, in recent years, built for itself a robust relationship with the government through its steadfastness, loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to its statutory roles, further expressed confidence that the new Council would not deviate from the noble role but shall build on the foundation already laid down and the achievements made by the past Councils.

He said his administration, since inception, has been according the Kabiyesis their pride of place in the scheme of things and will not, in anyway, take them for granted, just as he I assured them his government will never play down on the roles of traditional rulers and their immense contributions to governance.

Akeredolu further explained that his administration remained committed in delivering on its electoral promises and will not relent in its good works, noting that in spite of all odds, “we will ensure that all State resources are pooled for maximum utilisation for the growth and development of our dear State”.

Speaking after his inauguration, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, appreciated Akeredolu for approving his appointment as the Chairman of the Council, promising to join hands with him to fight against the common enemies of the state and the people.

He particularly commended the Governor for his unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property of the people of the state, saying that traditional rulers in the state would continue to support the REDEEMED agenda of the government for overall development of the Sunshine State.

He stressed equally the need to constitutionally engage traditional rulers going by the prevailing situation in the country, saying that the continued attempt to excuse them from performing constitutional roles would not be in the interest of the nation.

The Deji also appreciated the Governor for backing an Akure man, Prince Ademola Adegoroye to be Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that the development gladdened their heart and would be continually appreciated by the people.
