Akeredolu promises to develop Akoko

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has assured the people of Akoko that his administration will do everything possible to uplift the area to the next level of development.

Akeredolu disclosed that Akoko as a place occupies a very crucial position in his administration and as such, he has been making deliberate and concerted efforts to extend the dividends of democracy to the area.

The governor made these statements at the 2019 edition of the annual Ikare Day Celebration held st the Lennon Jubilee High School, playground in Ikare Akoko at the weekend.

 Akeredolu who was represented at the occasion by the state’s Commissioner for Lands  and Housing, Mr Fatai Olotu however charged the people to examine themselves and see how they can contribute to the reigning peace and unity in the area and how to make democracy work in the sunshine state in general.

The governor also took time to reel out his achievements in Akoko land to include the levelling of the dreaded Oke Alabojuto hill, dualization of Ikare township road, construction and asphalt laying of Jubilee Junction, Ikare to Ugbe Akoko road, construction of Ikaramu-Akunnu road which has commenced, building and reconstruction of 18 public primary schools in Ikare Akoko and many more.

 Akeredolu while observing that the occasion is meant ‘to forge cohesion, unity, peace and progress in the community, said Ikare has been known for peace for a long time.

 He therefore charged the people of Akoko and Ikare in particular to continue to support his administration in the efforts to make life better for the state.

 In his address at the occasion, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Fatai Olotu charged the people of Ikare Akoko to remain a one indivisible family whose only pursuit is the unity of purpose.

 The commissioner said with love and Unity, Ikare Akoko will regain its lost glory.

 He appealed to the people of Ikare and the entire Akoko land to rally round Governor Akeredolu who he said is genuinely interested in the  upliftment of Akoko land.

 The Olukare of Ikare Akoko, Oba Akadiri Saliu Momoh IV charged all sons and daughters of the town to unite and make concerted efforts aimed at the peace, progress and development of the town.

Oba Akadiri while observing that while the place of government in the development of any community cannot be dismissed, the only way any meaningful development can come to any place is only when the people are ready to be in the forefront of the race.

 In the same vein, a community leader in the area, Barrister Olanrewaju Kazeem has called on indigenes of Ikare Akoko to forget their differences, be it political or otherwise, to come together and work for the progress of the town.

According to him, the only way to see Ikare of the people’s dream is to unite and build a virile, strong and better Ikare Akoko.

 Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Olodeagbede Ogunsusi has charged the people to remain united and pay their allegiance to the monarch of the town.

 Chief Olodeagbede who is also an indigene charged the people of Ikare to rise up to the challenges of development.

 Similarly the chairperson, Mrs Bakare Mary called on the people to love one another.
