‘Akeredolu remains bonafide APC member’
By Jubril Bada
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has reaffirmed that the Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu remained bonafide member of the party as against a statement credited to one of the party’s Board of Trustee member, Alhaji Ali Olanusi that the governor remained suspended by the National Working Committee of the party.
It was recalled that Olanusi, who was a deputy governor in the state said in an interview with journalists that the governor remained suspended as a result of his anti-party activity during the last presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Speaking with The Hope on telephone yesterday, the State Director of Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro said the governor has not done what could warrant him to be suspended by the national body of the party, adding that Olanusi only resuscitated the rumour to cause confusion in the state.
Otaloro, who described Olanusi as a man has foreknowledge about how the party works said he shouldn’t have engaged like others in spreading rumour that the governor is under suspension.
The rumour, he said was circulated some months ago by some people who do not have foreknowledge about the party and which the party has described as untrue.
“But for Alhaji Olanusi to have resuscitated the rumour called for concern.
“There is no way you can suspend a sitting governor just as an unscrupulous party member in Edo State woke up to suspend the national chairman of APC. These are rumour.
“If a sitting governor is to be suspended, it will be done through due process by the national body of party under which the governor contested an election.
“Alhaji Ali Olanusi as a member of the party cannot be suspended without tenable offence not to talk of a sitting governor”.
The Director of Media and Publicity insisted that the governor is a bonafide member of the party and not under suspension whatsoever.
He explained that the party commended the governor for his quality leadership in turning around the state through various developmental projects recorded by his administration in less than three years in office.
He added that the rousing welcome received by the governor recently from the people of the state when he returned to the state from Abuja after some weeks absence as an evidence of love for his good governance.
