Akeredolu, Speaker preach love, peace at Easter

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has felicitated with Christians across the country on the celebration of this year’s Easter.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Segun Ajiboye, said Governor Akeredolu urged the Christian community to continue to trust and believe the words of God which enjoin them to love one another.
The governor said Easter, which is celebrated in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, preaches love and the hope of everlasting life and asked Christians to continue to have hope and faith in the nation’s leaders’ capacities to develop the country.
While urging the Christian community to be diligent and steadfast in their worship of God, the Governor equally tasked them not to forget to make moderation their watchword during the celebrations.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, has admonished Christian faithful to always emulate the virtues of humility, sacrifice, love, endurance and forgiveness of Jesus Christ as they celebrate this year’s Easter.
Oleyelogun in his Easter message congratulated the Christian faithful in the state, especially the state governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, his wife, Betty Akeredolu, the deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, the APC state executives led by Engr Ade Adetimehin, members of the State House of Assembly, all members of the State Executive Council, his constituents and the entire people of the state on the occasion.
He explained that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ clearly showed an uncommon humility, love, endurance and sacrifice for mankind, admonishing all and sundry to imbibe the spirit of humility, forgiveness and love for one another.
Oleyelogun also advised Christian faithful to extend their hands of love to the less privileged in the society as they celebrate the Easter.
He noted that, “Easter afforded us another opportunity to re -examine our spiritual life and again rededicate ourselves to the work of God and the development of humanity”.
The speaker advised all Nigerians to emulate the sacrificial life of the Lord Jesus Christ for a better Nigeria.
“We must all work together as brothers and sisters and continue to pray for the peace, unity and progress of our nation Nigeria”, Oleyelogun said.
