The Young Progressives Party, YPP, has described the demise of Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as a great loss to the people of the state, the legal profession and nation at large.
In a press release signed by the Secretary of the party, Henry Olonimoyo, it stated that the late governor will be remembered for his uncommon bluntness on issues of national discourse without sentiments, thereby describing him as a fearless leader.
According to the release: “We will not forget the leading and courageous role he played when he ensured the Amotekun Security Network will see the light of the day to stop the rampage of killer herdsmen even at a great risk to his political career”.
The party also congratulated, the new Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, calling on him to remember that the fate of three million Ondo State people is hanging in the balance, hence the need to be apt in attending to governance issues fast and with caution.
Also in the statement:” He must galvanise a cabinet that can interface with the people again. Correct areas of government neglect and salvage what is left of the promises made by this administration three years ago”
It stated that for the state to move forward, the governor must allow security agencies to carry out investigation of corruption leveled against some members of his party, adding that those culpable must face the wrath of the law.
It added that the party would not relent at ensuring that the administration remains accountable to the people of the state.
