Residents of the Ondo North Senatorial District have described the victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in the petition challenging his second coming as the Ondo State governor as a true reflection that his reelection is genuine and born out of the love of the people for him.
The people described the striking out of the petition by his rival, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as a victory for democracy and attestation not the fact that the judiciary in Nigeria still stands by the truth.
According to them, the victory of Akeredolu in the last Governorship Election in the state is a mandate freely given to him by the people for the trust they have in the governor as a testimony of the believe they have in him to move the state forward and therefore cannot be wished away.
The Chairman, Owo Local Government, Chief Samuel Adegbegi, who thanked God for the victory of the Governor at the tribunal said this will gear up the governor to do more for the people of the state.
Chief Adegbegi however called on the petitioner to take the decision of the court as an act of God and join hands with the governor to make the state a better place to live in.
The Owo Local Government boss said the massive infrastructural projects being executed by the governor across the nooks and crannies of the state will continue to soar with the further affirmation of the victory of the governor at the Governorship polls by the Election Petition Tribunal.
Similarly, Chairman of Akoko Southwest Local Government, Augustine Oloruntogbe who lauded the tribunal’s judgement said the victory of Governor Akeredolu at the polls was freely given by the people of the state and could not be taken through the back door.
Oloruntogbe who rejoiced with the people not the state, assured them that the Akeredolu led government in the state is peoples friendly and will build on the foundation laid in its first term by consolidating on the achievements gained in the first tenure.
He however appealed to the people of the state to continue to give their unflinching support to the governor for the good work to continue.
Hon. Abiodun Balogun, a former Education Secretary of Akoko Northeast Local Government said the victory is well deserved.
Balogun said the decision of the tribunal should be hailed n that is based on the basis of the law and the constitution.
