The lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Aviation, Festus O. Akingbaso, has restated his unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency, announcing the inclusion of projects worth N1 billion in the 2025 Appropriation Act.
Akingbaso gave this assurance while addressing concerns sparked by public inquiries and conversations on social media regarding the 2025 budget.
He clarified that although the budget has been passed by the National Assembly, implementation is yet to commence due to the non-release of funds.
He disclosed that despite the delay in fund disbursement, his office had already submitted proposals for vital constituency projects targeted at addressing the most pressing needs of the people of Idanre and Ifedore.
“In the past, members of the House could influence projects worth N400 million,” Akingbaso said.
“However, with recent economic policy shifts, such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, the Federal Government has raised the allocation to N1 billion for each Representative and N2 billion for each Senator.”
The lawmaker pointed out that the adjustment in allocation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on Nigerians.
He added that while implementation of the 2024 budget is still ongoing, the execution of the 2025 constituency projects would begin once the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) receive the necessary funds.
“I have submitted well-thought-out, impactful projects that align with the real needs of our people in Idanre/Ifedore. As soon as funds are released, the full details of these projects will be made public,” Akingbaso said.
He reaffirmed his dedication to transparency, service delivery and accountability, while expressing appreciation to his constituents for their continuous support.
He also urged them to keep engaging with his office to enhance representation and ensure their voices are heard.
