A delegation from the Osun State House of Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, has visited Akinlalu community in Ife North Local Government area to commiserate with families affected by last Tuesday’s tragic incident involving operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
The visit follows allegations by residents that operatives of the security outfit invaded the community and killed four individuals during the operation.
The state Governor, Ademola Adeleke has since ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident, dispatching a high-powered government delegation to ascertain the facts and calm tensions in the area.
Speaking at the palace of the Alakinla of Akinlalu, Oba Oluwabusola Oloyede, Deputy Speaker Oyewusi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured the community that justice would be served.
“We are here to express our condolences to the families and the entire Akinlalu community. What happened is painful, and we are all affected,” Oyewusi said. “I want to appeal to the youth to remain calm and allow the ongoing investigations by the state government and the police to be concluded. We assure you, justice will not be denied.”
Oyewusi described Ife North as a historically peaceful area and urged residents not to take the law into their hands.
“The state government has already begun an investigation, and I can assure you that those responsible for this act will be held accountable. We await the official reports, and by God’s grace, the perpetrators will not go unpunished,” he added.
He further promised that the government would provide necessary support to the bereaved families, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring peace, justice, and the protection of all citizens.
