The  people of Akintunde community in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State have commended Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for heeding their calls for the construction of their bridge that has been washed away by erosion .

Mr Eric Oluwafemi, a resident of the  area said that the quick intervention of the government has brought relief to them in the area, adding that  work being done was commendable as it will soon be completed.

He commended the quality of materials used, saying that it will ensure that the bridge lasts longer.

The chairman of the community Mr Gabriel Ajetumobi said  the governor has done well by listening to the call of the people of the area. He said if the quality of the works currently being done on the bridge is sustained, the bridge will last longer as compared to what it used be in the past.

The chairman said the bridge was constructed about five years ago. He said ,” the bridge collapsed because of the substandard materials that were used for its construction “.

He said the people of the area will heavy a sigh of relief when the  work is competed. According to him,  all the car owners in the area could not take their cars home ever since the bridge collapsed few months ago, this he said  caused   a lot of inconvenience for residents of the area .

He added that  many cars had been stolen in the area because the owners could not take their cars to their houses. When the bridge is completed, this will save the situation.

He pleaded with the contractor handling the project to accelerate work  so that, it could be completed before this festive period.
