Senator Ayo Akinyelure, the PDP candidate for the Ondo Central Senatorial District in next month’s general elections speaks on his four years of stewardship.
Can we meet you sir?
My name is Senator Ayo Akinyelure, a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Practitioner by profession. l have practised for over 37 years. I was elected to represent Ondo Central Senatorial district at the seventh assembly. I’m now PDP Ondo Central Senatorial district candidate in next month’s general elections.
What are your achievements and impacts on people during your tenure as a senator?
My scorecard in the senate in 2011 speaks volume. I was instrumental to the employment of 492 graduates of Ondo Central Senatorial District into Federal Government Ministries and Parastatals . l demonstrated my passion for the people of the district by using my constituency allowance to empower and impact on the lives of the people. Exactly one year in office, a constituency office was opened to implement my constituency projects. As a part time chairman of National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) l engaged 150 graduates and 220 school certificate holders as middle level manpower in the few months I spent in office.
Some of my constituency projects which cut across all the six local government areas in the central senatorial district include the construction of a Primary Health Care Centre in Kolawole, Ondo, Primary School building at Laje, Ondo, construction and installation of 500 KVA transformer at Lanika, Palace road, Apefon, installation of 300KVA transformer at Methodist High School area, Ehinpeti Street, Alli/Agosile substation, Yaba Street all in Idanre Local Government area.
Other projects include: Entrepreneurship Centre at Ondo Boys High School,Ondo, provision of wireless cloud internet access for Adeyemi College of Education through Nigeria Communication Commission; construction of NHIS accredited primary health care centre, and installation of 500KVA transformer at llupeju Jolaco Community, Ola Oluwa Quarters, Valentino; Funbi Fagun road 9, all in Ondo, among others.
I ensured the electrification of Ofosu community, which is located at the boundary between Ondo and Edo States, where timber industries are located and many rural roads were graded. These have boosted the economy of Ofosu in particular.
As a senatorial candidate of the PDP, what are your plans for the people if you are elected?
People should be expecting continuity of the good records l had in the seventh assembly. They will see significant improvement. That is my promise for the people of Ondo Central. l promise them that l will further influence projects to Ondo State. Revisiting the Federal University Teaching Hospital approved by Goodluck Jonathan administration will be one of the fundamental projects l will embark on when elected. The project will contribute to the development of Akure and the state.
When l’m elected as a senator to represent Ondo Central, my area of priority will be on human and physical developments by using my years of accumulated experience as a former senator to influence the appropriate quarters to get what we need done. The federal and rural roads which have become death traps will be constructed through influence of Senate Committee on Works.
Experience will be used to boost the economy of the state through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
My chance of winning the election is very bright.
