As part of the activities lined up for the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi-Akoko, the old students association will confer awards of recognition on the Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the Federal Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
While addressing newsmen in Akure yesterday on the one week-long celebration, the National President, AKOGRAM Old Students Association, Mr Adewole Saba said the award was in recognition of their contributions to the school and humanity in general.
Other awardees include selected old students, staff and members of the public, who have excelled in their various endeavours.
Mr Saba said that the old students had always been forthcoming in giving back to their alma mater in terms of rehabilitation, donations of bus, computer sets, borehole water system, fencing, among others.
He added that in celebration of the 60th anniversary of AKOGRAM, the old students would further give back to the school in terms of building, renovation, furniture provision, gate and toilet construction, fence, giving of scholarship to indigent students, among others.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration will run for a whole week, commencing from Monday January 31, 2022 and shall be crowned with the launching of an appeal fund for the development of the school and launching of the book chronicling the history of the school from inception, he revealed.
Highlights of the celebration, as reeled out by Chairman, Planning Committee, Mrs Mojisola Ajayi, include road show, debate/quiz competition, career talk, empowerment, drama and anniversary lecture.
Others are election of national officers, novelty match, Jumaat service, awards, book launching, project commissioning and thanksgiving, among others.
