Akogun annual competition: Wongara FC Win 2024 Edition

Wongara Football Club of Ajegunle Oka FC have defeated Rising Pius of Ebinrin Oka one nil to win the 2024 edition of Akogun annual soccer competition.
The event which took place in Oka Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government was to round off the 6th edition of the annual competition.
A former Super Eagles’ Star, Victor Ikpeba, Olubaka of Oka Akoko, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye alongside other prominent personalities were on ground to witness the final.
At exactly 3:46 pm, the final match for the 2024 Akogun annual football competition began between the two finalists that emerged out of the 20 football clubs that participated in this year tournament.
Despite the rain showers, the teams pressed on with the mission to lift the trophy.
Just less than 20 minutes into the second half, Wongara FC scored the only goal against Rising Pius and defended the lead till the end.
IKEDE FC came third to clinch the bronze medal just as Rising Pius and champions Wongara FC got their prizes
Organiser of the event, Gbenga Omole expressed satisfaction noting that the initiative is yielding positive dividends.
The team had earlier visited Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye where the monarch expressed support for Omole in harnessing the youths for the benefit of the community
Former Super eagle player and Television pundit, Victor Ikpeba who had 31 caps for Nigeria pledged his commitment to Akogun football match in achieving a desired results.
A press briefing was earlier held in Akure to intimate journalists on the event.
