Akoko APC leaders endorse President for 2nd term

As the 2027 general election draws closer, prominent political figures under the umbrella of the Akoko Political Leaders Forum have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him as the sole presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement came during a high-level meeting held on Sunday in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State. The gathering brought together APC leaders and stakeholders from the four local government areas that make up Akoko land.

In a strong show of unity and political resolve, the forum also passed a vote of confidence on Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commending him for positioning the state on the map of socio-economic, political, commercial, and infrastructural development.

Addressing attendees, the convener of the meeting and former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, emphasized that the people of Akoko had resolved to support Tinubu for a second term to allow him consolidate on the economic reforms his administration has initiated.

“Halting these reforms midway would be suicidal for the nation,” Olabimtan said. “Tinubu has shown courage, focus, and intentionality in repositioning Nigeria. You don’t change a winning team.”

Top political leaders and representatives present included the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Senator Jide Ipinsagba; Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, member representing Akoko South-West/South-East Federal Constituency; all four Akoko local government chairmen; and various former and serving public officials.

Olabimtan noted that the meeting marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time leaders across Akoko land had come together in such a strategic and united front. He stressed that the coming together of political stakeholders was not only timely but necessary for the progress of the region.

“This is more than a political gathering,” he said. “It is a family reunion to strengthen bonds, share ideas, and re-dedicate ourselves to the collective prosperity of Akoko land. Unity is our greatest strength.”

On the state leadership, former state lawmaker Akogun Gbenga Omole praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s developmental drive, especially his commitment to completing inherited projects while launching new ones.

Ondo is lucky to have a governor like Aiyedatiwa,” Omole said. “He deserves our total support. He is not only focused but passionate about improving lives across the state.”

The Akoko Political Leaders Forum vowed to sustain its collaborative spirit and rally behind progressive policies at both state and national levels in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
