Akoko banks shut over robbery scare

Banks in Akoko area of Ondo State hurriedly shut down on Tuesday as  rumours of invasion of bank robbers spread in the town.

As a result, many bank customers were sent out of the banking halls while those coming in were prevented.

A bank official who prefered to remain anonymous said the case of Ile-Oluji was still fresh in their memories where five lives were lost including police officers.

A bank customer from Iboropa Akoko, Felix Alo who came to   one of the banks in Ikare Akoko described insecurity as the major problem facing the nation at present because incessant bank robbery always cripple the economy.

As at the time of filing this report, patrol vehicles of police and the army were seen patrolling the town  to nip in the bud any attempt to rob the banks.

When contacted, the Ikare Akoko police Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Razak Rauf assured the people that his men were up to the task.

ACP Rauf urged the people to  go about their normal duties and business activities without fear or apprehension.
