Following the marching order and directive Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave to all security agencies in the state, joint security forces have been mobilized to Ikare-Akoko to fish out hoodlums causing civil unrest in the area.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on security, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo who said this at the weekend, said the police, DSS, NSCDC, Amotekun, Nigerian Army and other Vigilante operatives were on ground to fish out the trouble makers.
It would be recalled that about 20 persons alleged to be connected with the last week’s crisis in Ikare and Owo respectively have been apprehended.
Dojumo who said he is working with the security agencies to ensure normalcy is restored, hinted that all those involved in the crises in Ikare chieftaincy tussle and secret cult clash in Owo would be made to face the full weight of the law.
According to him, the Chief Executive of the state has taken security issues as a major priority, adding that the law would be applied to culprits.
The SSA called on law abiding citizens of the State to always assist the security agencies with useful information that would help curb violent crimes, saying the job of effective crime prevention, detection and control is for all and sundry.
His words, “Governor Akeredolu has given matching order to security agencies and as I speak to you now, there are security operatives in the two local governments keeping their eagle eyes on the movement of people in the town.
“Their mandate is to apprehend anybody irrespective of how highly placed trying to foment trouble as the areas are relatively calm, adding that security agencies would remain there until contrary directive,” he said.
The Governor, during a live broadcast to people of the State, warned traditional rulers to work with security forces, saying anyone who disobeyed the order would be dealt with accordingly.
He was of the opinion that traditional rulers who are custodians of the people need to be proactive in solving crime related issues in their respective domains.
