Akoko N-East chairman presents 2025 budget to legislative council

The Executive Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government Area, Mohammed Olawale, has presented the 2025 budget proposal to the Legislative Council.
He described it as a “Restoration Budget” aimed at reviving the council’s fortunes and addressing years of infrastructural decay.
The presentation, which took place before key stakeholders and council members, underscored the administration’s renewed commitment to effective grassroots governance.
Olawale explained that the proposed budget was strategically designed to tackle major challenges facing the local government, including deteriorating infrastructure, gaps in social services, and public disillusionment with governance.
He assured that the budget would be implemented with transparency and strict adherence to fiscal discipline.
The chairman outlined the administration’s priorities, highlighting plans to improve healthcare delivery through the upgrade of primary healthcare centres and the procurement of essential medical equipment.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening the education sector and empowering youths through support for school personnel and skills acquisition programmes.
On security, he pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace, especially in areas prone to unrest.
To stimulate local economic growth, the chairman revealed that his administration intends to roll out targeted empowerment initiatives for small-scale businesses and entrepreneurs across the council area.
He called on the Legislative Council to expedite the passage of the budget, noting that swift approval would enable prompt execution of the outlined projects and initiatives.
In his response, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Agunkejaye Tajudeen, commended the chairman’s vision and expressed satisfaction with the detailed and forward-looking nature of the budget.
He noted that the proposal reflected the aspirations of the people and aligned with the broader objective of sustainable development in the local government area.
He assured of the council’s commitment to a thorough review and prompt passage of the budget to ensure timely implementation.
