Akoko N’East Chair denies selling ‘Semu-Semu’ Garage

By Adeboye Ado

The Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Mohammed Olawale has refuted claims alleging that he has sold the Semu-Semu garage axis in Ikare-Akoko.

Reacting to what he described as rumours, the chairman stated  that there is no truth to the allegation, adding that at no point has any portion of the land been sold, leased, or handed over for personal gain.

Olawale explained that the ongoing plans for the area are part of a larger vision aimed at transforming Ikare into modern, economically vibrant town.

He said that his administration is working on establishing the “Semu-Semu Modern Lifestyle Centre,” a forward-looking development designed to unlock the economic and social potential of the axis.

According to him, the proposed centre will serve as a hub of commercial, recreational, and social activity, featuring a mix of retail outlets, entertainment options, dining facilities, wellness centres, and essential services.

The initiative, he said, is not just physical project, but a strategic investment in the future of the local government.

The chairman noted that the project would be driven through public-private partnerships, with a call to credible investors and business owners to join in the effort to bring the vision to life.

He stressed that the development is not for personal enrichment, but a carefully planned initiative aimed at creating jobs, attracting investment, and improving the quality of life for the people of Ikare.

Reaffirming his commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development, Olawale urged the public to disregard baseless speculations and focus instead on the shared goal of progress.

He called on residents to support the project, which he described as a major step toward building a community everyone can be proud of.
