Students in Akoko North East Local Government area of Ondo State celebrated as the council chairman, Mohammed Olawale, launched the second phase of his education and empowerment programme tagged From Break to Brilliance.
The initiative, done in partnership with EduMinds Africa, seeks to improve access to quality education and promote climate awareness among students.
Learning materials such as school bags, exercise books, pens, and reusable water bottles were distributed to students of Community High School, Iboropa-Akoko; AUD Grammar School, Ikare-Akoko; and Osele High School, Ikare-Akoko.
Speaking at AUD Grammar School, Ikare-Akoko, Olawale assured physically challenged students of his administration’s commitment to inclusivity.
“Your physical condition does not define your destiny,” he said. “With courage, focus, and determination, you can achieve greatness and even surpass expectations.”
The gesture drew applause from students and school heads who described it as a morale booster. The principal of Community High School said it restored hope to communities that had long felt neglected.
“This is more than just school bags and books; it is a ray of hope,” the principal said. “For years, we have felt forgotten by political leaders, but today our children feel seen and supported.”
Olawale promised to address concerns raised by the schools and reaffirmed that the programme aligns with his vision of inclusive education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
“This is not just about today’s students,” he added. “It is about building a generation that is prepared to learn, lead, and take responsibility for the future.”
