By Adeboye Ado

In a move to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Akoko North East Local Government and stimulate economic growth, the Chairman, Mohammed Mutiu, has inaugurated a Revenue Mobilization Committee.

The inauguration, which took place at the Local Government Secretariat, was attended by key officials.

Mutiu, represented by the Vice Chairman, Folashade Gold, emphasized the critical importance of strengthening the local revenue system to achieve sustainable development, underlining that the success of the administration’s developmental agenda relies heavily on efficient revenue generation.

She urged the newly appointed committee members to operate with transparency, diligence, and accountability in all their activities, stressing that the local government’s ability to deliver on its promises depends on the resources at its disposal.

“The efficiency of our revenue system is crucial to the realization of our development goals. By strengthening our internal revenue base, we can ensure that Akoko North East experiences continued progress,” Gold said.

“This committee will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we are able to meet the growing demands of our community.”

However, Mutiu commended the committee members for their appointment and charged them with the responsibility of thinking creatively and working swiftly to enhance the local government’s revenue base.

He noted that sustainable development begins with effective resource management and a robust internal revenue system.

“It is clear that in order to meet the needs of our people and execute impactful projects, we must look inward and strengthen our revenue base. This committee has been entrusted with the task of innovating and improving our revenue generation processes,” Olawale said.
