Residents of the four local government areas of Akoko in Ondo State are lamenting what they called ‘perennial’ water scarcity in the communities.
The Hope findings revealed that many wells have dried up and the few functional boreholes were jammed parked by people looking for water to drink and for domestic use.
The last rain in the area was at the end of November last year.
The hot weather coupled with epileptic electricity have worsened the comfort and health conditions of the residents.
People in places like Arigidi, Afin, Ikun, Sosan, Akungba and Irun are worried about the perennial problem, thereby calling on the three tiers of government in the country to come to their aid by finding a lasting solution to the bitter experience.
Meanwhile, those selling sachet water have capitalized on the situation to make brisk businesses.
