Akungba monarch calls for calm after hoodlum attack on residents

By Adeboye Ado

The Alale of Akungba-Akoko, Oba Isaac Sunday Adeyeye, has called for peace following an attack on some residents of the university community by hoodlums.

The hoodlums were reported to have assaulted traders residing in the area around 11 p.m. on Monday.

Addressing the victims and their relatives at his palace on Tuesday, Oba Adeyeye urged them to remain calm, emphasising that justice would be served in due course.

“I want to speak to you from my heart about the recent incident where some hoodlums attacked a few residents of our community. I know this has caused a lot of pain and anger.

“But I want to beg everyone, please, let us not respond with violence. I understand how hard it is to stay calm in times like this, but fighting back will only make things worse. Retaliation will not solve the problem; it will only bring more harm to our community.

“I want to assure you that we are working with the authorities to bring those responsible to justice. Let us allow the law to take its course. I will personally ensure that this matter is not swept under the carpet.

“Akungba is a peaceful and united community. Let us continue to show that we are better than those who try to bring chaos among us.

“Please, I appeal to you all to remain calm, stay peaceful, and let us work together to keep Akungba safe for everyone.”
