There was wild jubilation in Akungba Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government area of Ondo State on Wednesday, over the flag off of the one kilometer road rehabilitation in the area.

The one kilometer road rehabilitation was among the road contracts awarded by the administration of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Governor Akeredolu was represented at the flag-off ceremony by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi.

In her speech, Fagbemi said that the project will kick off immediately as they were targeted at ameliorating the hardship being encountered by the people of the area.

The Commissioner noted the importance of the road to the community, saying that the governor was passionate about improving the living standard of the people of the state, describing him as “one who is committed to fulfilling every promise he made at all time”.

The Chairman, Akoko Southwest Local Government, Hon. Augustine Oloruntogbe , who has also assured the people in the past of the readiness of government to commence “massive work on roads in the council area told them that Governor Akeredolu is keeping to his promise with the award and commencement of the rehabilitation project.

Oloruntogbe therefore charged the people of the area to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election and always support the governor to achieve more. According to him, that is the only way to appreciate him for  flagging off the project.

Reacting to the development, landlords and landladies of Otakoba community expressed surprise that the governor could make such promise and fulfilled it accordingly, saying: “Governor Akeredolu is an action governor who makes promises and keeps them”.
