Akunnu, Auga residents laud move on separate Police Division

The people of Akunu Ikakumo, Auga Akoko and adjoining towns have lauded the decision of the House of Representatives in passing a motion calling on the Inspector General of Police to create a separate Police Division for the area.
The communities in Isowopo area of Akoko Northeast are known to be flashpoints for kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes.
According to the people, creating a separate Police Division for the area was a return to the late fifties when the area had one.
They posited that this development would greatly reduce insecurity in the area.
The duo of the Regent of Akunu, Princess Tolani Orogun and Alauga of Auga Akoko, Oba Samuel Agunloye, noted that the present House of Representatives will remain indelible in the annal history of the region for remembering them when all hopes to solve the problem created by insecurity and criminality seemed insurmountable.
They called on Ondo State Commissioner of Police to kindly assist them in fast-tracking the decision.
They disclosed that many indigenes of the area have refused to come home while markets in the zone were not patronised due to security challenge in the area.
