Diocese of Akure Anglican Communion will next month celebrate its 40th consecration and 10th inauguration anniversary.

Highlights of the event was made  available to news men at a press briefing organized to mark the memorable occasion.

Bishop, Akure Diocese and Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Simeon Oluwole Borokini noted that it has been a period of ups and downs since Akure Diocese was carved out of the Old Ondo Diocese on March 2, 1983,

Borokini emphasized that there is need to thank God who has made the church scaled through all odds.

“We are officially informing the whole world of what God has done and is about doing in our Diocese and beyond. Akure Diocesan family is rolling out the drums and celebrating the faithfulness of God as we celebrate two important landmarks in the Diocese.

“Ever since the inauguration of Akure Diocese, our first Bishop, Rt Revd Dr Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi followed by Rt. Revd Michael Omoyebe Ipinmoye, we are the third bishop of the diocese and also the current Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).

“The second event we are celebrating is the 10th consecration anniversary of our Bishop and Archbishop. By providence, he was elected, confirmed and consecrated Bishop ten years ago.

“As part of activities to commemorate this event, we have invited eminent personalities to join our celebrations. Chief Arthur Eze had been invited to unveil the anniversary logo and statue, there will be anniversary lecture, medical outreach, awards of recognitions, thanksgiving service amongst others.
