Akure City FC unveils players for new season

Ahead of the incoming soccer season both at the domestic and national levels Akure City FC have resumed preparations for the challenges.

Following the departures of some enterprising players from the club for further development of their careers, Akure City FC have discovered and engaged eleven new players to bolster the squads both at the senior and U-15 levels.

During a brief unveiling ceremony at the Ondo State Sports Complex the players newly engaged are as follows

1.Gaius Emeka

2.Raymond Miracle

3.Ajibade Bankole

4.Adekayero Damilola

5.Eze Uchena.

6.Awosanmi Promise

7.Adeyemi Blessing

8.Nwosu Chidozie

9.Oladimeji Odunayo

10.Eze Friday Christopher.

11.Olawumi Temitope.

Also at the ceremony the team unveiled their Jerseys for the 2019 soccer season revealing both the home and away strips, a development which has spanned over the years since the team was founded, making them one of the very few privately owned teams in the State to do such.

Speaking at the event the Chief Coach of the team, Banjo Adepoju dropped the hint that the team is prepared to line up for the Nationwide league and  the State FA Cup while the U-15 squad will embark on a trip to Denmark to participate in the Dana Cup Competition in July.

Coach Banjo also revealed that two of their players Olubobola Tosin and Ayo Adejubu joined Sunshine Stars earlier before the beginning of the present NPFL season reaffirming the move as a major achievement for management of the team.

Club Chairman Kingsley Ossai also known as Kaycee said the philosophy of the team has not changed from discovering and exposing home grown talents in Ondo State while also on the look out to record success in whatever competition they partake.

Kingsley further said that the team’s targets this season is to surpass their efforts of last season where they represented Ondo State in the Aiteo Federation Cup as one of the two representatives alongside Sunshine Stars while they also missed promotion to the National Nationwide League on the last day of the season.
