Akure NSE honours Ondo D-Gov, SSG, others

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Akure branch, has disclosed plan to confer an Award of Excellence on the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Agboola Ajayi and the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde for impacting positively on the society in the state.

The chairman, Akure branch of the NSE, Engr. Oloruntoba Abe, who made the disclosure in Akure, the Ondo state capital, while addressing journalists as part of activities to herald the 2018 week of the association said the award presentation will come up this Saturday.

Others who will also receive awards during the week-long annual ceremony are, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State, Engr. Tunji-Light Ariyomo; Chairman, Ondo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, Mrs. Yetunde Adeyanju; a Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Raheem Aminu, as well as a Director, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Engr. Benson Ajiseyinrin among others.

Speaking further on the ceremony, the Akure NSE Chairman explained that the 2018 Engineering Week with the theme: “Public Infrastructure for the development of rural communities in Ondo State” was carefully chosen by the association and aimed towards improving the living standard of rural dwellers within the state.

He disclosed that the Akure branch of the NSE which is one of the notable 73 branches of NSE in the country, are  saddled with the responsibility of reducing rural to urban migration and enhance economic development of Ondo State, thereby making it an industrial hub of the nation as it is applicable in other developing countries.

Engr. Abe explained that as part of activities lined up for the celebration, the association would hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where a new leadership would emerge to oversee its affairs for the next two years, and also visit  motherless babies home in Owo and Akure towns.

The outgoing Chairman equally urged members to continue by contributing their quotas towards the development of the association, saying the move would enable them to record more success in the association and make it to compete with others favorably within the country.

The programme held at the temporary secretariat of the association, located at Alagbaka, Akure was attended by executive members of the association as well as staff of the secretariat of the NSE, Akure branch among others.
