Akure Secondary Commercial School celebrates 60th anniversary with public lecture

Akure Secondary Commercial School marked its 60th anniversary with a public lecture held to commemorate the institution’s Founders Day.
The event, spearheaded by the school’s alumni, showcased the enduring legacy of its founders and their contribution to education in Akure.

In his opening remarks, Prince Adebisi Adeniyi, Chairman of the Planning Committee, paid homage to the vision of the late Chief and Mrs. Benjamin Adinlewa. He acknowledged their efforts in establishing the school to provide accessible education for the Akure community.
Adeniyi reflected on the institution’s remarkable achievements, noting that it has produced over 10,000 professionals, including chartered accountants, entrepreneurs, and educators, who have made significant contributions to various sectors.
The keynote lecture, delivered by Mr. Francis Folorunso Omooluwa, Director of Science and Technology at the Ondo State Ministry of Education, centred on the theme, “Education Funding and Support: The Role of Old Students.”
Omooluwa emphasised the pivotal role of education in societal development and called on alumni to support their alma mater. He highlighted the unique opportunity old students have to give back, ensuring the continued provision of quality education.
He further stressed the need to address the financial challenges confronting educational institutions and urged for collective efforts to secure the future of education.
