Akure South council boss reels out achievements
Chairman, Transition Committee of Akure South Local Government, Dr. Gbenga Fasua, has stated that his administration has changed the face of Akure, the state capital in its three months of operation.
In a bulletin containing a list of his achievements, which The Hope obtained, areas mostly affected by the council boss’ achievements are: clearing of waterways to reduce flooding, offer of free medical outreach and training of local government staff members.
Others are: hosting of stakeholders meeting, operations Keep Akure Clean and Safe Initiative, free holiday coaching, training of over 20,000 artisans, among others.
Addressing a group of artisans in Akure, Fasua, charged them to leverage on the opportunity, which he said would lead to adequate training as well as certification.
Hosting the stakeholders comprising over 400 community chairmen, the council boss emphasised that the meetings would become a regular occurrence to foster unity and development.
He highlighted four major areas in which the government is actively working to enhance the lives of the people to include security, road infrastructural projects, the establishment of the Akure-South Local Government Market, and environmental cleanliness.
In the area of health, Fasua, on August 5, 2024 offered free medical outreach to the people of Akure-South across six designated centres in the local government.
In the area of agriculture, the council boss had collaborated with the Pastor Farmers Association, Akure Chapter on how to ensure every resident of the council does not go to bed with empty stomach.
He underscored the council’s readiness to collaborate with various farmers’ associations to expand the “Akure-South Feeds Akure” initiative, aimed at boosting food production for the benefit of the local government and the entire state.
He pledged to supply essential farm implements and fertilisers, even as he described the security of farming communities as of utmost importance.
On July 12, 2024, the Fasua-led administration, in conjunction with the State Government, initiated the clearing and expansion of the waterways, aimed at reducing the impact of flooding in the community and Akure at large.
