The Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Chief Tayo Alasoaduro has described the delay in the resumption of the National Assembly as not in the best interest of the nation.
Alasoaduro who spoke with The Hope in Akure on Sunday posited that national interest should have been put into consideration before any other thing.
He added that issues that will move the nation forward are gathering dust at the National Assembly, noting that one or two days should have been set aside to deliberate on them in the overall interest of the country
” What’s not good about the closure is that we have matters of national importance that we need to discuss and support.
Examples are money for the Federal government on capital projects, INEC budget and others that are of national interest should be urgently considered by our members.
“So ordinarily, the National Assembly should be reopened for one or two days to look critically at some of the issues I mentioned in the interest of our country”.
On the gale of defections from APC, Alasoadura said it will not affect the fortune of the party in the coming 2019 elections .
According to him, APC has become a brand and the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari led administration and the integrity of the president will continue to speak for him.
He disclosed that the coalition of PDP with other 39 political parties cannot wrestle power from the ruling party, noting that PDP administration at the national level in the last 16years has been a monumental waste.
