Alatise emerges AKSLG NLC chair

Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Owena Press Chapel, Mr Olusola Alatise was yesterday inaugurated as the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Akure South Local Government chapter.
Alatise and others across Ondo state were inaugurated at the Nigerian Labour Congress House, Akure.
Inaugurating the committees, Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Ondo State Council, Comrade Tayo Ogunleye pointed out that the idea of extending the structure of the solidarity and struggles down to the local government level is to give members good sense of belonging.
He said the move is to further strengthen the effect of the collective struggles of the members for excellent result in the course of improving the welfare of all workers in the state.
“It will equally give vent to grassroots mobilisation and trade union consciousness at community level with a view to allowing congress activities have a wider reach to workers and working families”, he added.
Ogunleye noted that the Sunshine state is among the state councils that have reactivated structures at local levels for the purpose of deepening political and gender consciousness at the grassroots and overall national development.
While congratulating the SEC members over their emergence to serve and provide leadership at the NLC committee level, Ogunleye expressed his readiness to work with all stakeholders to take the union to the next level and better the lots of the members.
He however charged the SEC members not to see themselves as burdens on their state leaders, but as partners in progress and effective allies in the scheme of things for justice, fairness and promotion of workers’ welfare.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated SEC members, the AKSLG NLC chairman, Mr Olusola Alatise thanked the union for the opportunity given them to serve in various capacities, pledging their unalloyed loyalty and commitment towards achieving the goals and aspirations of the noble union.
The nomination and election which led to the emergence of members of the executives into various positions of the union across the state had earlier been conducted in September 2018.
