Alfa docked over alleged fetish practices

A 48-year-old Alfa, Mohammed Jamiu, has been dragged before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-Eda, for allegedly having in his possession unlawful fetish and criminal charms which include liquid substance suspected to be human blood.
The accused was brought before Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel, on a count charge of being fetish.
According to the prosecution, the accused committed the offence on the April 8, 30,2019 at Agbaluku area of Arigidi Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District.
The alleged offence was said to be contrary to and punishable under section 213(a)(b) of the Criminal Code Cap37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Suleiman Abdulateef, told the court that he had four witnesses who would be testifying in the case.
He therefore, prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file properly .
Lawyer to the defendant, Mr Ilesanmi Ikuemanisan, did not oppose the application for an adjournment made by the prosecutor.
But he prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal term, adding that the defendant would provide credible and reliable surety who would stand for him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-manuel, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
She, therefore, transferred the case to the Chief Magistrate Court within Ikare Akoko, for conveniency and necessary action.
She adjourned till June 19, 2019 for hearing.
