Alone goal from substituted Chibundu Amah is all Sunshine Stars needed to triumph over their resilient visitors, Niger Tornadoes of Niger State.
The week 19 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided at the Ondo State sports complex in Akure saw the Owena Whales coming out with zeal and zest to make up for their away lost to Remo Stars last week.
But their visitors held them to a half time barren draw .
At the restart of the second half, Sunshine Stars created chances which were denied by the Tornadoes goal tender.
Before the substituted Amah gave the Akure Landlords the lead in the 66th minute when as he tapped home from Fuad Ekelojuoti’ cross.
This will be the second time Amah will come from the bench to give Sunshine Stars a vital home winning.
Sunshine Stars technical adviser , Kabir Dogo during a post match interview said ,”I’m very happy, very exited. at least we were able to secure the needed three points.
I believe the type of officiating we’re getting here is what we have been getting in other places by now we would have be at the top of the league.
We are going for double away in our next two matches, our plan is to get four points in both matches if we get this kind of officiating”.
According to Niger Tornadoes head coach, Hamza Abara “our plan was to pick three points here to escape relegation but it turned the other way round. Hopefully, we will get something out from our away match against Enyimba.
“The problem of the team used to be the Management Committee, they are the architects of the team’s problem but they are no longer with the team. As you can see the performance of the boys has changed.
The officiating was okay. This is the kind of officiating I want. Even in my home, I don’t get this kind of officiating”.
