Amapetu of Mahin urges Tinubu to tackle insecurity

The Amapetu of Mahin Land in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State, Oba Segun Akinyomi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to deploy every power at his disposal to tackle and curb the spate of insecurity and terrorism in the country.

Oba Akinyomi gave the advice during the celebration of the “Ere” traditional festival held at Ode-Mahin in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State.

The monarch, who expressed concern over the growing insecurity in some parts of the country, warned that the disturbing trend could discourage investors from establishing businesses in Nigeria if stringent measures are not taken to address it.

Oba Akinyomi, who noted that Mahin Land in Ilaje is open to investors willing to set up business facilities in the area, stated that the land has the capacity to accommodate investors, as Ilaje is richly endowed with natural and mineral resources that could boost business growth and enhance the nation’s economic development.

He commended President Tinubu for the gradual implementation of his Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the country’s fortunes. The monarch also called on Nigerians to show respect, cooperate, and maintain mutual understanding with leaders in authority to ensure the success of government policies and make the country great.

The monarch, who expressed optimism that the current economic challenges facing the nation would soon be overcome, reiterated the need for all citizens to perform their civic duties and contribute selflessly to the development and peaceful coexistence of the country, stressing that Nigeria is the only homeland we have.

Oba Akinyomi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Council of Obas in Ilaje Local Government Area, strongly advocated for the inclusion of statutory roles for traditional rulers in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He emphasised that this would provide constitutional backing for their administrative and traditional duties.

He added that such recognition would empower traditional rulers to promote cultural heritage and assist the government in regulating unlawful activities in accordance with the law.
