American Tower Company (ATC) has rated Ondo state high in the establishment and management of Digital Literary programme in Nigeria.

The South West Regional Manager of the Company, Mr. Michael Ogunfowora while speaking at the commissioning of additional three Digital Village Projects across the state commended the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) for diligent prosecution of the projects.

According to Mr. Ogunfowora, Ondo state is the first and only state in Nigeria to establish five Digital Village projects within a year indicating the strong commitment of the state government to the future development of her youth.

Impressed by this political will, the company graciously approved additional four DVPs to raise the bar to nine making it the highest in Africa.

In his keynote address at the event, SSA to Ondo state Governor on ICT, Hon Olumbe Akinkugbe charged the youth especially unemployed graduates to take maximum advantage of the programme to redefine their future.

Akinkugbe who doubles as the Chairman of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) said the focus of government is to train the youths in relevant aspects of ICT that will not only make them self reliant, but become future employers of labour.

He therefore advised the youths, especially girls to concentrate on the scheme to become relevant in future.

Some royal fathers from the benefiting communities, Okiti of Iju in Iju/Itaogbolu LGA, Oba Amos Farukanmi, Alale of Akungba, Oba Isaac Ajimo, Akoko S/West LGA commended the state government for taking deliberate and conscious effort at waging war against unemployment among the youths.

They assured government of adequate security of the projects in their localities

The DVP are located at Igbokoda in Ilaje LGA, Ondo in Ondo West LGA, Iju in Akure North LGA, Uso in Owo LGA and Akungba in Akoko S/West LGA of Ondo state.
