Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested an ex- convict, Rufai Wasiu, for alleged house burglary, where he stole mobile phones in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
The 40-year-old suspect, who was alleged to be a specialist in breaking into houses and stealing was arrested by men of the Corps after a complaint was lodged at the command’s office in Osogbo.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, asserted that the suspect was arrested in the town after he burgled a house and stole phones.
He said a complaint was lodged at Amotekun Osogbo Command on the atrocities committed by the suspect, and the operatives swung into action immediately and apprehended him.
“Upon investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the offence. He said he had committed similar offences and consequently jailed, “Adewinmbi said.
The suspect, he said, had since been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
The Amotekun boss urged members of the public to always report strange faces in their domains, adding that the job of effective crime prevention and control is for all and sundry.
