A woman who scouts for syndicates to kidnap pregnant women was among ten suspected kidnappers and their kingpin, an herbalist, arrested by men of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps.
The kidnappers which include two women were among 45 other suspected criminals paraded yesterday by the Amotekun Corps in Akure.
They were paraded for various offences including motorbike snatching, cattle rustling among others.
Six members of the gang of the kidnappers were said to be operating in Ore area of the state.
They were said to have hypnotized their victims before they kidnapped them.
According to the State Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, other suspects include eight burglars; 10 armed robbers; one rapist of minors, three motorcycle snatchers; eight Illegal possessors of firearms; two car vandals and three cattle rustlers.
He said: “The kidnap syndicate used charms ‘juju’ to hypnotize people they carried on their motorcycles to unknown destination.
The syndicate based in Odigbo were arrested when a woman was kidnapped and taken to the shrine of the herbalist.
One of the suspected kidnappers, Mrs Adesanya Folasade, explained that she only directed the gang to help her kidnap a mad pregnant woman.
The 45 – year – old mother of one claimed that she wanted the herbalist to help her take the pregnant lunatic into custody pending the time she will give birth.
She claimed that she intended to take care of the unborn baby after delivery.
According to her, she did it because she has not been able to conceive since she had her only child and desperately needed one.
The suspect said it was the herbalist’s boys who went kidnap another person instead of the lunatic.
According to the Amotekun Corps Commander, the abductee was rescued without paying any ransom.
He said the woman was the one allegedly scouting for the syndicate on whom to kidnap.
Another syndicate who specialised in snatching motorbikes, was busted by the Amotekun Corps in Ore. They broke into a motorbike shop and carted away brand new bikes.
“Three among the stolen bikes have been recovered. Two were recovered in Owo, while the other one was recovered in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State through the assistance of Ogun Amotekun Corps.
Some suspects were also paraded for allegedly snatching motorbikes and attempted the murder of their victims in Oba-Akoko area of Ondo State.
According to Akogun Adeleye, the suspects usually kill their victims after snatching their motorbikes and subsequently dismantle them for onward transfer to Ogun State and other neighbouring states as spare parts.
Akogun Adeleye disclosed that 25 among the suspects would be arraigned as soon investigations are concluded.
He implored people of the state to join hands with all security agencies in the state to rid it of criminals, saying the current slogan is “see something, say something.”
He urged the citizenry to endeavour to call the formations’ 08078888889 Emergency line whenever they see or notice any suspected moves in their areas.
