Amotekun, Police apprehend notorious cultists in Osun

A joint security operatives of Special Anti -Cultism Squad and Osun Amotekun have arrested suspected cultists terrorizing the Ilesa metropolis.
The arrested suspects are, Kareem Ojo, 32 years, Adedamopa Salamo ,26,Olatunji Ezekiel 24,Adeyeye Adekunle 33, and Tope Oguntade .35 respectively .
They were nabbed at various locations at Ilesha area of Osun State following an intelligence reports of their secret cult activities and drug dealing offence .
The suspected cultists were caught with dangerous weapons such as axes, guns, and charms in their possession.
Recalled that the suspected cultists on Saturday launched an attack on the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad who are on patrol to forestall law and order during the Iwude ijesa celebration in Ilesa township, the operatives of the squad were attacked by the cultists with dangerous weapons, the operatives who sustained various degree of injuries during the attacks.
The suspects after the arrests confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity and they have been members for a long time.
It was revealed that the suspects have been on the wanted list of the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit for a long time.
Confirming the arrest to the newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi asserted that the suspected cultists were arrested at different spots in Ilesa township by the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad in a joint operation with the Police Anti-Cultism Unit.
“The suspects who had been terrorizing ilesa township for a long time and men of the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad swung into action immediately a complaint was lodged on the activities of the criminals and they were busted at different spots and arrested the suspects with dangerous weapons.
“During cross-examination, the suspects confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity and they have been members for a long time.
“They have been on the wanted list of the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit for a very long time before luck ran against them”. Adewinmbi said.
The suspects have been handed over to the Police Anti-Cultism Unit for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
