The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has attributed the significant improvement in the security of lives and property across the Southwest region to its joint border patrols with neighbouring states.
The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, made this known at the just-concluded Southwest dialogue held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Speaking on collaborative efforts, Adeleye stated that Amotekun regularly conducts border patrol operations between Ondo and its neighbouring states including Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, and Ogun.
According to him, these coordinated patrols and intelligence sharing frameworks, especially along the Ore axis, have greatly enhanced security and curtailed cross-border criminal activities.
He further emphasised that even before the recent leaked memo on security collaboration, all security agencies in Ondo State had been working closely to ensure safety and stability.
Following the development, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa promptly convened a high-level security meeting where a directive was issued for all agencies to intensify synergy and collective operations.
“In recent times, you must have noticed a show of force by various security agencies operating jointly across the state. This is a deliberate move to reassure residents that Ondo State remains safe,” he stated.
The Commander also urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the police, civil defence, Amotekun, army, navy, or any other security outfit.
“Our collective vigilance remains the key to sustaining peace and security in the state,” he added
