By Justus Adetomiwa

Security operatives working under newly launched Operation Udo Ga Achi, and led by men of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a man who confessed to being a member of a gang that killed a police woman in 2022.

The suspect whose name is Ewulu Chikwo, also confessed that he belongs to a gang that enforces the abolished sit-at-home protest earlier declared by separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

A press release by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect confessed that he is a member of IPOB.

“Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping unit acting on credible information on 25th April 2025 busted a criminal camp at Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala LGA.

“They arrested one Ewulu Chikwo, male, aged 35 years. The suspect and his gang members were allegedly planning to enforce illegal Sit-At-Home in the area the following Monday.

“During the interrogation of the suspect, he confessed to being a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and also among the armed criminals who attacked the Ukpor Divisional Police Headquarters in the year 2022 where a policewoman, Inspector Stella Maris was gruesomely murdered.”

Ikenga said as a result of the above, the Joint Security Force has intensified patrols in the area while the State Police Command has equally assured of swift action on any security information, especially as it affects the arrest of other gang members in the area.
