ANCOPPS president commends govt over debate

Principal of Ilaje High School, Igbokoda, Mr Ajinde Mebawondu has commended Ondo State Government for the opportunity given to secondary schools students in the state to display their talents during the public debate it organised recently.
Mebawondu who is also the state President of All Nigerians Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPPS, described the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as an education loving governor for making himself available at the final stage of the debate.
He said the state secondary schools are his constituency being the president of ANCOPPS and appreciated former Commissioner, for education, Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu, the Permanent Secretary, Revd Akin Asaniyan and other members of staff of the ministry.
Mebawondu who said there had been competitions among students in the state commonly organised by schools commended the ministry of education for organising this one.
According to him, the brilliant performances of the students at the debate have put an end to insinuations in some quarters that students in the state cheat in exams.
He suggested that plaque or other things that can endure should be given to the students instead of money that would be spent and forgotten.
While expressing happiness that his school came first in the senior category at the final stage of the debate, Mebawondu commended the efforts of his teachers who prepared the students for their sacrifice.
“Apart from preparing the students for the debate, since I got to the school, I have been working with my vice principals, HODs and teachers to make sure we impart knowledge to the students,” he said.
He called on the state government to make it a continuous thing for the development of education in the state.
Omomowo God’sgift and Isiriyele Favour of Ilaje High School, Igbokoda took the first position at the senior category of the public debate among secondary schools in the three senatorial districts of the state.
