Apalara: beneficiaries yet to meet conditions

Ondo state government has  laid  the  blame of the inability of some people to access  it’s N550 million Apalara micro credit scheme at the doors of beneficiaries of the programme.

It said they are yet to meet the required conditions for disbursement.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Market, Mr Sikiru Raji, stated this while speaking with The Hope in Akure.

His words: ” The lapses were with our market people. They should have submitted the necessary documents to access the loan.”

“Government has released it and has appealed it should be  released to them so that they can trade with it during the Yuletide period”.

According to him, there were some prerequisites they were expected to present before the money could be given to them

“They must have collateral such as landed property. It is banking rule that you cannot collect naked money without collateral “,he said.

He observed that few beneficiaries who were able to meet up with the prerequites such as those from Ondo East and West local government areas had accessed the fund.

He advised those who had not enlisted for the scheme to do so and be proactive in the process of accessment, saying the money was there for everybody.

Raji, also observed that the death of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Micro Credit who was also the Chairman of the agency contributed to the slow disbursement, but that the process had commenced since last week.

He however urged beneficiaries to expedite action in presenting the required document to process collection of the fund.

The Hope had earlier gathered that majority of the beneficiaries were yet to access the money as at last week, barely two months after the launch of the programme.
