The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state has cleared all the 16 Local Government Chairmanship seats and the 22 Local Council Development Areas LCDAs as well as 177 counciliship in the Saturday local government elections held in the state.

A total of 14 political parties participated in the election , including the APC, Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Declaring the results on Sunday as presented by the Returning Officers, the Chairman of Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEK) Justice Cornelius Akintayo, (rtd) said , the APC candidate in Ado Local Government , Mrs Motunde Fajuyi polled a total of 27,578 votes to defeat other 13 candidates in the election , while in Ido/Osi , Mr Adeola Adedimeji Lawrence of APC polled 15,879 to emerge victorious.

Declaring the results on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, at the  situation room of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) shortly after the Returning Officers in all the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas LCDAs took turns to present the results of the various council areas.

The EKSIEC Chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (rtd) applauded the people of the State for the peaceful atmosphere under which the election was conducted.

He also commended the parties that participated in the exercise for their sportsmanship spirit as well as the staff who worked on the field, he equally commended the security agents and the media for a job well done.

The event witnessed by Commissioners and principal officers of EKSIEC, members of political parties from various parties that participated in the election.

Political parties that participated in the election include, Action Alliance AA, Action Democratic Party ADC, African Democratic party ADP, All Progressives Congress APC. Labour Party LP, New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP, People’s Redemption Party PRP and Zenith Labour Party ZLP.
