The All Progressives Congress, APC, party executives, and members have described the Local Government Party congress conducted during the weekend as an hitch-free exercise.
The congress was held in the 18 local governments of Ondo State.
In some areas visited by The Hope’s correspondent during the exercise in Ondo south, area like Odigbo LG, Okitipupa LG and Ese Odo LG, It was observed that the congress was conducted in a consensus arrangement as directed by the national committee.
Meanwhile the party National Caretaker Committee had agreed to a consensus arrangement of the Local government congress nationwide.
One of the APC leaders and the Immediate past Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Commerce and Industry, Mr Tunji Ifabiyi, while speaking with our correspondent, shortly after the congress in Odigbo LG secretariat of the Ondo state said the exercise went well as every member succumbed to a consensus mode .
“Though initially there was an argument over the nomination of two executives from Ago Alaye and Agbabu wards but later this was resolved amicably among ward members, Ifabiyi stressed.
Also in her comment, the Chairman of the Odigbo Council area, Mrs Margret Akinsuroju noted that the APC local government congress could be classified as the most peaceful one ever in the history of the party in Odigbo since it is only meant to ratify decisions of people from their wards on whom should be nominated as members of party executives for another four years tenure.
She, however, credited the success of the congress to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and the State Party Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin, for their leadership roles which gave credence to the exercise through the adoption of consensus mode.
In Okitipupa LG, the APC Chairman Mr Bode Ikulala commended the committee in charge of the exercise which he described as a job well done.
According to the chairman, the exercise was peaceful, which has 27 Executives just like the Ward Executives.
Ikulala, therefore, advised all the Excos to read and study the Party constitutions so that they would not contradict the Party’s constitution in the course of discharging their duties. He also urged that they should put the Party’s interest in their heart, and be friendly to all Party members.
He further promised a regular meeting from the wards to the local government so that the part can meet up to all tasks. He said.
In the same vein, the local government chairman of Okitipupa, Mr Igbekele Akinrinwa, acknowledge the congress as a peaceful and successful exercise, he, therefore, wishes all the executives the best in their tenure.
