APC Convention: Akeredolu lauds Buhari, Tinubu, others

The Governor of Ondo State and Chairman, South-West Governors’ Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has expressed optimism that the outcome of the just concluded National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), would  provide an inspiring enabler for cohesion and stability.

Akeredolu,  commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the CECPC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and all other leaders of the party for the successful conduct of the National Convention.

He also congratulated the new National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; the National Secretary, Senator (Otunba)  Iyiola Omisore; the National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaacs Kekemeke as well as other lucky ones from the South-West, on their new positions.

Governor Akeredolu in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, equally admonished all contestants for various positions to leverage on the strength of their commitment to serve the party at different levels.

The governor said: ”We must consider the resolve to serve the people, even at the party level, a commendable strive. At times like this, such strives are of courage. They are borne out of individual zeal and passion for the party. Such efforts are undoubtedly, replete with brighter prospects–that we can shape the party stronger today, for tomorrow.

“As party leaders and faithful of varied but strongly-nested leverages and responsibilities, we have played the game not for our selfish interests even if our individual desires to serve as well as the purposeful drives to achieve same may have differed. Notwithstanding, our collective, though unsung instincts were incurably geared toward the common goal of altruistic service to the party.

“We must, therefore, at this point, put the past behind us for the greater objective to serve the people and the larger society through the instrumentality of the party platform. We have all won together. As such, the responsibility to build together is for us all irrespective of who emerged or whose aspirations are yet to come to fruition. God’s time is the best.

“For the newly-elected, here is a huge possibility of better days ahead of us all; and clearly, a greater opportunity for oneness, more than ever before, has again, berthed. Galvanize us for the enormous task ahead.

Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the State noted reconciliation of aggrieved members of the party as top issue to be resolved by the newly elected national executives of the party.

The party said the court cases instituted by members against the party need urgent attention for the party to move forward in its preparation for the 2023 general elections.

Mr. Steve Otaloro,Director, Media and Publicity of the party in the State stated this in an interview with The Hope yesterday.

The new executives under the chairmanship of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as third substantive chairman were elected on Saturday at the party’s National Convention in Abuja.

Under his leadership, he also noted the need to resolve the issue emanated from the recent congresess of the party and on the need to reach out to everyone and give opportunity for better tomorrow.

According to him, with the emergence of Adamu as chairman true consensus will lead to sheathe of swords of warring factions.

Otaloro advised Adamu to embrace other co-chairmanship aspirants so as to move the party together to the next level.

He expressed confidence in him going by his antecedents as senator and top class administrator to do the needful to drive the party forward.

“Adamu as third substantive national, we are looking for his fresh breath and air. Our party will be more galvanize and result oriented towards the coming general elections” he said.

The party congratulated the new chairman, Adamu other winners and co-aspirants who eventuality stepped down for him to emerge as chairman.
