The Caretaker Chairman, Ondo East Local Government, Hon. Rafiu Ayodeji Akinkuolie has said that APC-led state government is still doing far better than the past government in terms of governance.
The APC chieftain said this in a chat with The Hope. He said government of APC at the federal, state and local government levels are not wasteful but focused to deliver meaningful democracy to the people.
According to him, “In my local government, we have been able to put in place laudable projects that touch lives directly despite financial challenges. When we got to the office, all the roads in Ondo East Council area were in bad condition and we have been able to grade some.
From late last year to early this year, we have been able to grade about 55km before the rain started and we hope to continue as soon as the rain stops because Ondo East is 99 per cent rural.
“I can tell you now that the Bolorunduro-Fagbo road is under construction courtesy of our amiable Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and very soon another one will kick start.
Again, we met about seven months salary arrears on ground and with the management skills of the governor and policy of not owning, we have been able to reduce it to three months and up till date, the government is not owing salaries including that the local government.
“We have been able to do this as a party with the fear of God. Workers’ welfare is number one priority to the government rather than going for projects because of financial challenges. Everybody is afraid of been labelled corrupt and that is the meaning of change. No wastage, no flamboyant projects. Integrity and honesty remain our wish word.
“I want to assure that in 2019, APC will still be in power at the national level. We do not rule out the fact that there are issues just like past governments. APC is still far better and united in spite of all the challenges; we are focused”.
Akinkuolie, who noted that those decamping from APC are going because of their selfish interest not because they love the people.
“If you want to serve the people, why don’t you allow the will of the people to prevail. Political office holders and aspirants should have the interest of the people at heart,” he added.
He urged people to continue to support the APC led government in the state and Nigeria so as to enjoy more fruit of democracy.
