APC hits back at PDP, defends Aiyedatiwa’s cabinet choices

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has vehemently rejected recent claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing their allegations against Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration as unfounded, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a detailed statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, the APC reaffirmed that Governor Aiyedatiwa has strictly complied with constitutional guidelines concerning cabinet appointments.
The party stressed that the governor is pursuing a deliberate, inclusive, and strategic approach to governance.
“The PDP’s accusations are nothing but a desperate ploy to undermine the notable progress achieved by Governor Aiyedatiwa within his first 100 days in office,” the statement said. “Contrary to their baseless assertions, the governor has appointed key cabinet members who are actively discharging their duties with diligence. Further appointments remain in process, guided by principles of meritocracy, fairness, and equitable representation across all local government areas in the state.”
The APC described the PDP’s claims of opacity and lack of transparency as both ironic and hypocritical, given the opposition’s own governance record.
“The Aiyedatiwa-led government remains committed to transparency and accountability, with stakeholder engagement being a cornerstone of its administration. The people of Ondo State are not only heard but also served efficiently,” the party asserted.
Responding to criticisms concerning recent government contracts—particularly those involving residential housing and the upgrade of Reuben Fasoranti Park—the APC defended these initiatives as visionary projects designed to boost employment, stimulate economic activities, and improve public infrastructure.
The party dismissed PDP’s financial claims as exaggerated and misleading, lacking consideration of the long-term benefits these projects will yield.
Rejecting allegations of financial mismanagement, the APC labelled such claims “slanderous and irresponsible.” It highlighted Governor Aiyedatiwa’s reputation for fiscal prudence and noted the complex financial challenges inherited from previous administrations, which the current government is actively tackling.
“Measures are being implemented to enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and to ensure prudent utilisation of funds from the Federation Account. Accusations of financial secrecy are unfounded. Governor Aiyedatiwa has been transparent about the fiscal realities and ongoing efforts to restore financial stability,” the statement emphasised.
The APC urged the PDP to adopt a more constructive and responsible posture in political engagement, warning against spreading misinformation and fostering division. “Ondo State deserves an opposition that promotes constructive dialogue rather than one that misleads and obstructs progress,” the party stated.
Concluding the statement, the APC reiterated its steadfast support for Governor Aiyedatiwa and his administration. “We remain fully committed to the vision of a prosperous and inclusive Ondo State. We will not be distracted by unfounded criticisms. Instead, we will continue to collaborate with the government in delivering tangible results that improve the lives of our citizens.”
